Good and bad news. Bad news is I messed up the ID on my
Laetacara curviceps, they are in fact
Laetacara dorsigera that get much larger and more aggressive than their smaller cousins. I missed a slight color in the dorsal
my good friend "darth pike" over in the cichlid section helped me out (thanks again bro
) That said they had to be moved from the 10 gallon to the 125 gallon or the female will likely be killed by the male in the near future.
Good news is I pulled all of the plants out of the 10 gallon and added a guard in front of the plant chamber. I have a very stunted (found him in a filter) 3" BN pleco that is 2 years old (shut up clockwork! He is too real. you'll see now!). I hang on to him just to give him a good home. The 10 gallon is his now. No competition for food, tank to himself, ADA driftwood, pristine water etc... He lucked out IMO.

The
Laetacara dorsigera are cruizing this tank like it's gigantic lol.. My only concern is the large male
Dicrossus maculatus, they are sizing each other up below. Hopefully they play nice.

On to the update with the 125 gallon. I have found only a few stones that have the right autum/blackwater colors I want (transition dark water to light sand well). I will pick up another 10-15 this weekend and keep the best. I want an open "pennensula" in the middle of the tank with stones only, large dark wood on the right and on the left, the mazanita and my "stealth" wood plans on the left for a mangrove look.
The right side is almost done (7 different pieces of Malaysian DW) to resemble the large stump seen in the inspirational pic a few pages ago.
From the side of the tank you can see how much wood this actually is. In a couple of days this tank is going to be DARK
stained water..
