Fancy Goldfish Pictures

Wow! That's an amazing setup.

After going to stores and going home emptyhanded in the last few weeks, a black oranda caught my eye as I spent my time testing out the reaction of the other goldfish to food in a shop. Of course, she appeared out of nowhere and I stared quickly at her surveying her fins, eyes, wen growth, etc. Everything she has, is what I exactly wanted. I thought to myself, "Surely, she wants me to bring her home" as she continues parading in front of me in delight so I shrugged off the "conservative" feeling and requested an employee to get her for me. I went home happily with her in tow. She's really hyperactive and readily joined the other goldies upon introduction!

Okay, here are the pics of my new goldfish, Velvet. Pictures don't do her justice. She's prettier than the pictures show and the photos are a result of my lack of knowledge over the settings of Olympus cameras. I had to tamper with the pics to darken them a bit because I hated the light background flash gave.

Thanks, Robb! The oranda is unfortunately shifting its color to orange.lol Black color is such an unstable color with goldfish.:(

Lupin,

Pics. look better w/clean glass.... JK. Just giving you a hard time.

Great collection and variety. I'm a big fan of fantails. Common Red Caps and Lionheads being tops. Wanting to put a couple in my office tank that housed a baby Eastern Painted turtle.

Is a 20 gal. OK for a 18-24 month growout? Don't have the room for a larger tank at this time. Or, should i hold off and do a 90-125 when I get my basement:grinno:

Rob,
I'll work on getting some close up's of my Shubbies. Appox. a dozen in the 5-8" range. I have two that are 1/2 to 2/3 black. The black being the most rich, black velvet I've ever seen. I wish I could paint my truck their color. Here is an OK pic. of a few in early spring (don't look at the algae or pipe). The PVC gives shelter til the lillies come in.

I'd hold off and get a 125g tank. A 20g is very difficult to maintain when it contains goldfish. I quarantined mine in my 10-20g tanks for a month and the maintenance was rather tedious often involving twice a day water change as they stir the poop and eat like pigs around.:banher:

great goldies everyone....
