Water changes DO NOT affect Benificial Bacteria as long as there is no Chlorine/Chloromines in the water that you are adding to the tank. Water Changes are mainly done to lower the accumulated Nitrate concentration. BB resides and colonizes on all the media and surfaces of the tank and filter...very very small amounts become waterborne.

If you have an established filtration system 100% water changes do not affect the filters, providing there are no Chlorine elements in the water...

That's even more reassuring for me as i have RO and HMA and i change my cartridges every month.

Thanks

wastewater goes into the 2" p-trap and then into the sewer.

Nice system dmopar, updates?

I understand that, but how does the water travel out of the tank to the drain?
That overflow that has the anti-siphon valve sticking in the top of it and
the "aqua-lifter" to keep the siphon going,
is what "OVERFLOWS" the water that
the Auto w/c'r puts in the tank...

It will only drain the extra water that is going into the tank...
It will not drain out what isn't being pumped in...

Think of your bathroom sink...
plug the drain, and drip water from the faucet...

when the sink gets full, the excess water goes down that little hole in the top of the sink there on the front lip.
when you shut off the water the water stops going down that hole ...right?

Really very simple in concept, one just has to be creative with the plumbing...

Got it, thanks man. So thats where the aquafilters come into play...You took some time to answer my question, and I appreciate that! Always wanted to do a drip system, but thought it was always too complicated.
