Alright, didn't do too much tonight... scraped/peeled off a bunch of masking, and sanded the last gelcoat... er, coat. Next step is to go over it with a roller and a brush and make sure no spots were missed, no fiberglass needles are sticking up, and so forth. After that it's glass time. Speaking of which I should take the 6 foot pane to work tomorrow to deliver to the water jet place to cut down to 4'

Plan is to fill the screw holes with bondo, sand flush and stain the exposed wood black. The bondo plugs will show as black dots with the black stain, but they are evenly measured out, and the black stain will be quite dark, so there won't be a lot of contrast. After looking at it, I think I'm going to sand off the gelcoat I applied to the front to cover up the bolt holes I drilled that hold the center brace in. I'll just do those holes the same way as the others. The fact that the center brace is in the... well in the center, but the window is off center makes it look funny to have the stripe there. The edges are not very nice either - it doesn't show in the picture, but the edges all chipped when I pulled up the masking tape on that little strip.

Alright, not much progress to show (yet). Wife unit is out of town so I can go back outside for a while this evening, but on the other hand it's COLD tonight out there. All I plan to do is roll on a touch up/finish coat of gelcoat on the inside, and maybe assemble the freaking mammoth stand. My brother was supposed to come over tonight and I was hoping get his help lifting the tank onto the stand, but that fell through. I might try some stone-age maneuvers for getting the tank up by myself, but it might be wiser to just wait.

Go stone age on that stand. Its DIY not DIWYB...
LOL. Thanks. I needed a laugh. I'm going back outside now to work on the stand some more. Maybe if I hit a milestone tonight, even if it takes me till midnight, I'll feel better. Kind of frustrated right now in general.

Glad you like the design, and glad to have you watching. I need to start titling my threads with more attention grabbing-ness.

Anyways, came in to phone the wife unit and say goodnight. Back out to continue assembling the stand. Don't think I'll get to the gelcoat tonight, but maybe some wood putty.
