looks great and its obvious lots of time and effort have been put into the quality of this build.
haha, i think it looks bigger without you. i still think it looks like a 300 gal :p
i'm gonna start my own tank very similair to this at the end of this term once summer starts. mine will only be about 400 gals though.
can't wait to see this thing finished!

Alright, another late evening tonight... Or early morning however you wanna call it.

I did the touchup coat on the interior of the tank:

Sanded off the wood putty filling all the screw holes:

And I started out by just doing a test patch, and somehow that turned into staining the whole damn tank.

I also did some screwing around with where the bulkhead comes through. I needed to seal right through the bulkhead hole to the outside, because the gasket will be on the outside of the tank. No pics of the process, but here's the finished product:

Man I hate staining, but I did 3 more coats today. Waiting until it takes on that satin sheen evenly over the whole tank... indicating there's the bare minimum stain/polyurethane mix there to be waterproof. Black stain is tricky because I want the grain to show through subtly, so I gotta put juuust enough on that it doesn't drown out the grain. Probably 2-3 more wipedowns will do it. I also wiped a bunch on the stand just for ****s and giggles. I still need to sand the stand and fill the screw holes and crap, but I had a stain soaked rag in my hand so I wiped a bunch on the stand to see how it looked, and maybe identify areas that need more sanding.

hmm, after I stain the outside of mine I will have to climb in and take another pic of me inside for reference. lol. Looking good. Like the black stain. Was going with that myself, but decided a little lighter would go good with the blue interior.

Yeah Yeah yours is bigger than mine... ;)

I think the dark brown will suit your lumber construction nicely. My furniture is black in the room the tank will be in, so it makes sense for it to be black. Plus it's a large peice of furniture, so I wanted to paint it a slimming color.

I feel like a large peice of furniture myself right now... Just ate about a dozen lemon tarts and washed it down with some beers. *burp* god all this fish tank building is making me fat.
