i hate staining as well but it looks good,
the whole time im reading this last page im thinking this thing must weigh a ton, did you lift the tank up on the stand your self? what do you think it weighs
Yeah I got it up there by myself. I had to do it in a couple of stages. As-is it weighs around 200lbs. With glass it'll be around 350.

Update time:

filling, sanding staining... was staining the inside of the stand last night... got about halfway through before I really needed to go inside (Broken down car, The 225 acrylic build, This project, and trying to get the house ready for visitors on thursday is exhausting.)

Lol, looking great! Can't wait to see it filled! That black stain is sexy! Wish I could do mine all black, but I think that's too much. My tank is the center piece for the garage and the dark stain will make it stand out! I hope anyway! lol. Your's weighs about 200 lbs. empty, and mine weighs over 2000 lbs empty. Maybe I'll make a stand for it after all! Anyone want to help me lift it? I'm glad there's no stand for mine. Can you imagine building a stand to support nearly 40,000 lbs?

Epic fail. DIY stand for 20 tons = indian ocean in your garage house and street.

Ye of little faith. How much do you think 3 feet of snow on the roof of a house weighs? Anything is doable. 20tons seems like a lot of weight, but building a structure to hold it up wouldn't really be that hard, it would just be expensive as you'd need a lot of wood.

necro is there even room in your Garage to build a stand without removing the tank? I would build it out of steal. the amount of weight is less an issue than the area over which the weight is spread (psi). I like the look of your whole setup here cvermeulen its gonna be a beautiful show piece. that black looks awesome. a true piece of art in my mind.

Not really doing a stand, just thought I would throw it out there and see what people would say. So is the tank full of water yet?

LOL, no, this weekend is a writeoff. family in town. Once I get the glass cut it'll be relatively quick to get water in it.
