I just read the thread about the aro & pleco move, any updates for this thread? How's the TSN? Btw, this is one of the threads that I've watched since I joined this site. It encourages me to see a tank this big, this far north.

I've thought of putting a tank in the garage too, but there is no insulation in there right now, so I don't want to know what my power bill would be in the winter to heat a big tank out there. My wife is pretty understanding, and understands that there will be a large tank in the house soon, but there is no way I could convince her that we'll have to start sweeping snow off the car, because I'm putting a fish tank in the garage.

OK so this past weekend I moved the rest of my fish up north. Only 2 of them went into the 600 with my catfish, and he promptly tried to eat my 10" oscar, but having failed that, he seems to be quite peaceful now. So I now have 3 fish in this beast, and I'm still on the fence about putting my Aro in there, as he might be of edible size for the TSN. We'll see what happens here in the next few months. I might be moving again :/

dang moving again? staying in the same townor a big move again? I fear I may be moving again and I am really fearing I may not be able to bring my fish with me this time. I would be movingto Yellowknife. I am pretty sure if I did move them up there I would be the only guy up there with 1000G of fish tanks lol. but the 20+ hr drive to get there would be murder. also me not knowing anyone up there would make it very difficult to set up my tanks upon arrival.

anyhow back on topic

lets see some pics of the new inhabitants... I have loved this build from its inception and I look forward to seeing photos especially with fish in it

Yeah I put in for another job in a town about 2 hours distant. Not another 1200km move, but still a pain.

Yellowknife hey, that's a hell of a move - what kind of work would you be moving for? My folks used to live up there and they loved it. There will be some people with some tanks, but defo not 1000+. You'll have to mail order stuff, which requires some planning. Upside is though, even if you don't know people, in a town like that people will be willing to help out a stranger moving tanks.

I only have a crappy phone pic. My camera has been stolen and I haven't replaced it yet.

sweet thanks for the pic. I will be going there to work in the diamond mines. I have not heard one bad thing about the people up there. I don't have 1 tank thats over 1000G but I have 2x300G and 2 150g a couple 100g and then a bunch of normal ppl tanks lol. mail order wouldn't bother me but mike you said you better have your ducks in a row or it will be a bad experience.

good luck with your job change also. so has your family moved up there yet? I have been following your thread but I can't realll you saying they had moved up yet.

I just found out how much moving a big aquarium sux! My little 264gal was a nightmare to move just 6km. It was almost destroyed. I had to repair the filter and parts of the cabinet. Nearly lost my fish.

I feel for you guys.

Thanks! I should post up new pics... I finally finished the lids. Just need to get around to rearranging the filter the way I want it and it will be "done".

Hey could you put a picture of your finished filtering system too I wanna do something similar but can't figure out how to get it sump through with only one sump pump. I'm wanting to do a 6x3x2 for my gar its the biggest I can fit in my basement. If you have any advice for the filtering system that would be great!
