Well.... are you.?
I don't know 100% how I'm going to finish it. I wasn't ignoring you, I just don't hae a good answer yet. I will likely use some moldings to cover the screws up, and I will stain/Urethane the G1S parts of the tank, as well as the stand. Right now I'm designing the stand... it has to be modular so I can take it apart and put it back together for getting it in and out of the house. I've also started rattling around ideas in my head for the lid. I don't want to build a canopy, but I need something to keep my Aro in the tank, so I'll be doing something. I'm trying to figure out a way to use that cheapass corrogated clear paneling you can get at home depot... without having it look like a trailer park veranda.

Unexciting photo... if you look close you can see the fiberglass in the corners.

Unfortunately we're really in the middle of the tedious and ugly phase of the project here. I've done more fiberglass, that still needs to be trimmed and sanded. I gelcoated the back of the beast black, and I spread a bunch of polyester filler on the inside of the back panel to fill in the crappy exterior grade plywood texture.

Sprayed the bottom with some blue tinted polyester to seal it against any moisture that might creep under the tank. I love my spraygun :p. I also did some sanding and some more fiberglass in the tank, but nothing photoworthy.

Small update tonight... lots of elbow grease sanding down the filler on the back panel, and I sprayed on the first interior coat of gelcoat (just on the back panel). This will get sanded and filled some more, I just wanted a feel for how badly small imperfections would show through the gelcoat.

I also shot a little bit on the unfinished fiberglass around the top rim to see how that would come out if I don't fill/sand it. I think it will be OK that way, might just need to lay it on a bit thicker than I did in this pic.

Another pic of the unfinished fiberglass top in the corner. I need to fill and sand the little radius in the corner that I made with some 1/4" chopped strand glass. The blue spraypaint marks bubbles I found during trimming and rough sanding that need some TLC.

Last 3 posts in the last 3 days all from me. what gives, nobody interested? 600gl just not that cool these days? Pfbbt. I haven't seen anyone with a design quite like this, I thought for sure there'd be more interest. Maybe I annoy too many people I guess.
