You could do saltwater and get an octopus, that'd be sick.Or a school of exos or a gulper cat. Turquoise Jewel cichlids are awesome, i've seen some stunning ones lately for 8$ a piece.

I have had a similar experience with newer faucets when trying to fill a tank with a python. Some new faucets use quick connections with o-rings and once the python is connected it creates enough back pressure to overcome the o-rings. I use the kitchen sink to fill a 5g bucket that is sitting in the sink and then a small pump to pump to which ever tank I am filling. Your tub would be ideal for this type of gerry rig.
I have had aquariums since before my children were born and have taught them from very early on not to play in the tanks. My mother visited on a number of occasions and I would come home to find her encouraging my children in disobedience. :swear:I didn't punish my kids for these times but mom worked her way into being persona non grata with reckless abandon not just over this.

I am doing the same exact thing you’re doing right now in my fishroom using a 5 gallon bucket as I’m limited by the strength of my pump atm and later the water pressure which I can’t change.

I have somewhat odd views. I believe that everything “bad” that happens happens so that something better may happen but it can only happen if you make it happen, the better thing won’t just fall into your lap. Basically life is saying “No, no, let’s do something else.”. Whether you use the opportunity life has given you and turn it into a good thing is up to you. I disagree with life about loosing my knives and spiny monster pleco however I’m still going to turn it into a good thing. I’m thinking about making it into another Wallace’s shoehead species tank and since I lost a black moor I’m down to one so I’m thinking about abandoning my plans of making a 75 gallon black moor tank with 5-6 of them and rehoming my remaining one and using the tank for something else, maybe another Wallace’s shoehead catfish species tank.

Yep and I’m doing quite well, I’ve gotten my 2 75’s set up, I’m expecting a shipment of fish sometime soon, I’m waiting on my local petco to get in their 75’s so I can get a few during the dollar per gallon sale which is going on now (it’s now half off instead of dollar per gallon but eh, won’t change the price for the 75’s). I’ve talked to a buddy that works there and he’ll put aside 2 for me and if possible I’m going to bump it up to either 3/4. I’ll just need to put the tanks to the side while I get the stands built and filtration,etc. I just picked up a dirty 55, some 1-2 gallon glass bowls, and some sheet glass from an estate sell for $50 so I’m excited. The bowls are for miniature aqua scapes, the glass is for an attempt at building my own tank, I may use the 55 for something or I may use the glass, don’t know yet. I’ve been busy away from the site however you can trust that I shall be ok comrade. Not everyone can deal with what life throws at them however whenever life has the balls to throw something at me I’ll come back stronger than I was before.
 
I’ll post a few pictures and a stock list when I get a chance. It’s still strange to think how I went from 8 tanks worth to 2 tanks worth, up to 3 tanks worth, then I lost a whole tank so now I’m down to 2 tanks worth. I do regret selling off a perfectly good brand new55 during my downsizing that had only been filled once though....

On the bright side since my mindset changed a bit since my peak to now I am now no longer considering anything below a 75 except for quarantine or hospitals so I can consolidate stock, save space, etc.

I still have 55, 40, 3x 29, 20 with water in them at my parents house that I have to empty and move to my apartment however I’m going to sell the 20 I believe.

I hear you about being away- I was away about 6-8 months, but also like you I’m coming back strong and have some life ball licking moments. Lol.
