Ok after a short break for the past 2 days I went out for a short 2 hrs on 2 small lakes in the developement, JAck calls Bingo every Tuesdays.
I lost three other Bass that spit the hooks. Plus there was many blow-ups where the Bass just totally missed the lure, or in one case knocked the Buzzbait clear out of the water. Oh yeah Terry was on the money when he said that the Money Minnow was a good buy. Here's what was landed:
This week here it's the popper on the outside of the grass/ lillys that's getting them to come out!! That's and the # 5 Mapps has been the ticket when nothing else will work!
Today was an INSANE day of fishing. It started out this morning at 6:30am, JAck picked me up and we headed to the "Walk" in search of the first daylight Bass. Last time I was down here I slammed a 6.5lbs, 7lbs, and a 7.8lbs Bass from this very spot all on Spro frogs. We always seem to be able to find at least a few Lg. Bass there. Well today was very different, even though I was able to cast 75% across the lake, Nothing, not even one boil or strike. The big Bass weren't there at all, but Jersey JAck was pulling small bass - ie: 6 to 14 inches left and right on Bass Pro Shop Tournament Texas Smoke Worms from the surrounding water, and then on a inline spinner. I hate worming, especially when using Power Pro. JAck offered some worms but I stayed with the Spro Frog until it was like beating a dead horse, and then switched over to an rattletrap so as not to get totally shut out.
Then we walk over to another section and tried there, the bite was really slow until I changed over to a spinnerbait and nailed one 3.0lbs Bass up in the corner area and then pulled in another smaller Bass. We decided to walk around another part of the main lake, basically in the opposite direction than we normally go. Within the first 15 minutes of our walk I got 4 small Bass on a inline spinner and Jack got like 7 maybe 8 Bass too add to the 10 he already had using those worms. But as we came around the bend where there was a weedline on the opposite side, BAM I whipped out my Spro Weedless Popping Frog tied it on and on the second cast a 3.4lbs Bass shot out of the weedline and CRUSHED the Frog. Not 2 minutes later another Bass was on, and then another - JAck couldn't believe his eyes, yeah he was getting in on the action too but noting like me with the Spro Frog. In the next hour I went from a 6 Bass count to a 17 Bass count, with several 2+ & 3+ pounders in the mix and one 6+lbs Bass taken in open water about 20~25ft away when I set the hooks. When we called it for lunch break, the total was Jersey JAck 30, me 18. (But keep in mind JJ carries 2 rods I carry one, when little Bass tried for my Frog JJ came behind me throwing a worm & later a small inline). Jersey JAck fishes for numbers and I for size.
But that's only half the story we went for lunch and after we headed for Jersey JAck place to wait for the third person that was fishing with us for the evening round. When Steve-O showed up we headed out at 4pm. We were on the lake by 4:30pm and fished a total of 2 small lakes and 3 ponds until 8pm. Steve-O missed a nice Bass that some how spit his chug popper after leaping high out of the water, but later got a hook into a nice 3 pounder. Jersey JAck nailed a nice 4.7lbs Bass on a worm though everyone was supposed to be frogging. By days end, the total count from morning to night was 96 Bass landed and all fishing was done from the banks no boating today.
Terry, getting close................
Here's another nice Bass, but not big enough, yet.............
Oops there it is....... well plus a pound and then some, six + pounds.... I'm on track 5lbs/+ Bass per day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This one got your name all over it. Let me just say this T, all my BIG Bass have been on topwater and with a Frog. Yes we weighed it but that pick isn't as nice a this one.
And now Jersey Jack getting in on the act, with this beaut 4.7pounds
Below are shots from either yesterday or another day that I forgot to dload from my cellphone. I believe this one was on a spinnerbait and weighed in dam close to 4 pounds.
Buy that ticket now T, I only got a few days left here! Where you gonna find all that we got here - Snakes both venomous and non-venomous, Lizards (Gators), Big Bass and other exotic fish both fresh and saltwater, and don't for get the Spiders. Black Widows and all there here, so come on down and get into the action.
Went yesterday to fish the outgoing tide when the bite was supposed to be hot, only landed 3 small catfish. My buddy jinxed me and said i wouldnt catch another (would of been #200 for the year) and i went almost 2 hours with no fish. Ashamed, slightly ticked off and bored i left without #200

Here are a few left over pics from fishing done in the last 2 days, the photo with the red shirt on was from today. While we caught a mess of Bass none where bigger than what you see in the first shot below. To be exact today we caught a grand total of 39 Bass of which 17 were taken this morning between 8:30am and 10:30am on this lake ther est we caught in the afternoon.
I'll get to fish starting around 6:30am may 22, 2010 till about 2pm then we'll do lunch and then I'm on my way top the Airport and from there back to NYC .
Well today we founded out that one of are favorite shore fishing spots is back to normal. Its the PA D&R canal, for the last two years it has been like a inch of water in it due to flood repairs. I was worried that all the fish had died but NO NO. There were spawning beds everywhere and some still had bass on them.
Not alot of fish landed but we were happy to see there is still life in it!!!
Todays lake of choice was "Carnegie lake. We landed mosty little ones today but as we talked to alot of different boats we did better then eveyone else. This lake isnt supposed to have CP's but as we were making are rounds BAM fish, buzzy bait gone. At first im thinking it was a musky but as I was tieing on another buzzy I could see the fish making a wake in the same spot. So Dennis threw his spinny right in there, fish on, but Mr. Novice let it get off at the boat. Dennis how ever was able to land the biggest of the day(2.8lbs)!!
Almost forgot, I finally pulled out the baitcaster and caught my first ever baitcaster fish(pic)!!!!
Only a few decent size ones but the bite was excellent!!!
6am came and I didnt really want to get up but im glad I did!!!
For some reason we dont try "Mercer county lake" much, really ever. Today was almost the same result but I stuck to the plan but I was very close to just going back to "Carnegie". Both Dennis and I were alittle worried about if we were going to catch. Well that feeling went away pretty quick when Dennis broke the ice with a small bass on a crank bait and I was able to follow up a few cast later. After that Dennis banged a couple of yellow perch and I landed a YP and four more bass. Then around 10:15 KABOOM number seven was a 5.14 that jumped on the buzzy!! I was on cloud nine and didnt care if I caught another fish all day but I went on to land some on the dinger, the spinny, and YP on a husky jerk bait.
