Hey guys...here is the long update of what happened yesterday...
I went to fosters looking to either pick up a pair of ORA clowns, or a yasha goby pair with a pistol shrimp.
Dustin picked me up mid morning, and we headed up to rhinelander.
We got the short tour of the facility, and quickly got down to the important part, buying fish.
I immediately fell in love with some clowns that were $300 a pair, but they were too close to my clarks, so I decided to go with my original decision of picking up some ORA extreme misbars. I also spotted a mystery wrasse, who had been collected in the marshall islands, and has a blue sheen over his whole body.
I told the guy that I would also be taking a yasha pair that I had seen him feed earlier in the day, and then Dustin pointed out that there was also a fairy wrasse that I would be buying. Before I could even react properly, the guy had the fairy wrasse into a bag. Thanks Dustin for the split second decision on the fish, I still have not seen him in the tank.
Dustin didnt get anything, but won an acclimation box/frag rack for his tank, which I could have used.
My harlequin tusk freaked out on just about everything that I added...nearly killing one of the ORA clowns, eating the pistol shrimp, separating the yasha pair (only saw one today), and driving the fairy wrasse into hiding. (From which I have only seen glimpses of him through the rockwork.)
The mystery wrasse has been cruising around the tank, and the harlequin has treated him with some passive aggression. The purple tang actually has only reacted to the mystery, and does not like him at all.
Lets hope everything works out, at this point it is obvious that the harlequin's days in the tank are limited. (Now, how do I get him out? Dont say fish trap - mine apparently sucks, no dice.)
In other news I did a 40g water change today to fill up my sump, which is holding water in all the right places. I am thinking that I am going to risk whatever chemicals are from the silicone and some glass and pvc glues and hook her up later this week.
Rigging the cpr overflow with hoses to the sump was a little tricky, but I got it done with some transition cement, silicone, and some hoses designed for washing machines.
Pics later this week, I swear.
