hi gus sorry about not getting back to this right away, ive been fighting water parameters and that means water changes, i must have burned through 12 bottles of dechlor and 2 big bottles of prime, but everything seems fine all the amonia is gone but im still having a problem with nitrites, and as far as the food bill, as of yet they dont really seem interested in the food, most have nibbled on some and the hybrids have not eaten much but the marbles are eating good now. the next best eaters at the moment are the nigers, they vacume up the pellets, the little red tail has not eaten at all yet, the water is staying very clear and there is no smell, but the nitrites still build up, we actually it is alot slower than before, im now down to 800 gallon water change every other day, instead of everyday, and today i got bit twice by bert the 27" giant gourami, i had my hand resting on the side of the dogbone tank while i was cleaning it, i was watching where i was cleaning and bert saw my fingertips sticking into the water and thought it was food and grabbed hold of my middle finger which made me let out a surprised yelp and scareds the bejesus out of my wife tracy, then she started laughing her ass off for quit a while, well about an hour later i was hanging the new lights up above the tank and he got me again, so i think i have learned to keep a watch for my fingertips now :)
here are a couple of pictures for ya.

I ENVY YOU.
i cant wait to move back home, buy a house, and build a pond in the basement for some cats like these lol. im years away :(

Just got home from richs' house. these fish are a lot biggger then they look in the picture.

I have to go back up there in a few weeks and see them again.

if rich gets around to it he's got a picture of me petting one of the big hybrid cats. they are by far the largest cats I have seen in someones private collection and rival most public aquariums in the area.

If you can make the drive up there to see these guys I sugest it. Rich and his family are great people with more then generous hospitality. it's a great time.

Simply JAW DROPPING to see what you have done for these cats!
Along (of course) with the fabulous MFKer's willing to lend a hand! :headbang2

Hope everything settles out and all the new additions start eating (like piggies) soon!

^^ sweet thanks for posting the pics. I'm going to print the one of me off and show my composition teacher so I can show him that you can pet fish. lol

***UPDATE***
hi guys, well today the nitrites were around 2 ppm so they are on the downfall, which means the new filters have completly cycled, now i can lay off the daily water changes, thank god. anyways before i did the water change today i tried feeding them again and both of pacus ate hot dogs, the marbles also ate the dogs and the nigers all ate the shrimp, the hybrids did not eat nor did the red tail cats or id sharks, but thats alot better than the last time i tried, none of them ate alot, but just seeing them eat a little made me feel better, so well try again in another 2 days,
bigrich
