free big catfish need homes/trip to washington to save them

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Few weeks ago my GF and I headed to BigRich's to trade some fish. Turned out to be a 5 hour ordeal or so. They offered my GF to get in the 1500 gallon catfish pool to noodle them. My GF and Josh had some fun trying to catch some cats. They both managed to get the 42lb Shovelnose (Josh Cheated and use a towel) (my GF just used her hands):D

Here are the YT videos and some pics

wow sweet. if u got them where i think u got them. lol i gave a few cats there, they would be about the size. lol thats sweet one of those could be a baby cat i had at one time until they outgrew my 150, now there the size of a 150 tank . very cool. i wish. i gotta come check it out someday. im in shock makes me wanna go buy a pool lol

we were not "NOODLING" the fish, master b and his wife came over on the day that we were going to weigh and measure all the fish, since we did not get the chance in the move at that time we were worried about the fish being stressed, since she was able to capture the fish without a net, i thought it was a good idea, but it turned out to be too much trouble when we got them out of the water, we tried on 2 different fish to get them to the scale that we set up but it was useless, we ended up not getting any weights of any of the fish, so doris ended up scraping up her hand pretty bad, and we accomplished nothing, except a few cool pics.
all the fish are now eating and doing fine, the last one to eat was the smaller redtail catfish, he still has not eaten much but he is showing interest in the shrimp and still spits out some, the marble cats have healed up all the way, all there fins are grown back, the pacus still show fins rips from the net and so do the nigers and hybrids, the redtail cats are almost completly healed up there fins seem to grow fast also, we finally got the new filters to cycle, amonia and nitrites are no readable, but i still have to do a water change every 3 days now, i guess that is because of the small size of the pool there in, we also have stated buying the lumber for there new tank, ive been busy latly so i have not updated this thread lately, but i will keep you all posted on the progress of the new tank

not sure if anyone reads Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine or not, but this month they ran a story about how a public aquarium was redoing an exhibit, and they needed to move 50 12-14" pacu across the country...
the story reminded me of rich, although i think you're move was better :)

no i have not seen that, but it would be a interesting read i bet, and the only reason i do believe that our move was better is because of the dedication of my sons doing the driving straight through there and back and doing water changes along the way, if it was not for them, i would not own these monsters today :)
