Yeah, all we need is for the San Andreas, and the even more deadly Cascadia Subcondution zone to go off, and we'll have everything including a devastating tsunami.

Cascadia was only discovered within the last 30 years. I never heard of it until last year. When the plates slip back, it is going to be completely devastating for a lot areas, including my area. While I'm high enough to miss most tsunamis, with bridges down, it will be hard to go anywhere except by foot. There are all kinds of Youtube videos of possible scenarios, none of them good

Hey, I hadn't either, and I live in Cascadia subduction fault zone Scary stuff--the stuff horror movies are made of, except they predict it's going to happen imminently. A quick search on Cascadia turns up all kinds of stuff....Seattle, Portland could all go bye bye.

Been giving it thought. If we survive the big one, we could be without power and water for six months or longer. One of the first things you do in the event of something catastrophic (like a big earthquake) is check our gas tanks and turn them off if they are leaking. My big old generator might be destroyed or be inoperable after a huge earthquake. Considering getting a solar generator. We have a well that we don't use, and it needs a pump. With a solar generator and a pump, we could have water for however long we need. Think I'm going to get a 500 gallon water tank and keep it filled. 6 months worth of food might come in handy...becoming a regular prepper here
The thing is, we are in a fire zone also. The huge Chetco Bar Fire in Oregon came within a few miles of the California border. The ash came down on our vehicles for weeks. Didn't do any good to wash my car--it was covered in ash the next day. I could get all stocked up for a long survival mode and lose everything in a fire..... what to do what to do....
