then i am going to say lng for sure. if they were bought lng is out there right now and they look like my small lng i had.. they don't look like small floridas and you are not going to buy small spotteds.

just caught this gar about 2 hours ago, it is what look like a spotted gar but the long snout and the unclear pattern make me not sure it is 100% spotted or not!

sorry for late reply to your PM too - this is definitely a spotted gar, but given our previous work we'd definitely be interested in running some samples from those fish! will be in touch; be sure and get more pics of those guys so we can compare (all that being said, i would say 100% SPG, but we have population-level interests in the fish) --

last week I pull up a gar that seem to be a black spotted gar(or maybe it just mud cover on that fish) but when I almost pull it out of water it broke free from the rope lure and get away:(
BTW do you need me to send you a piece of tail sample from these gars for DNA?

yes, will be in touch about samples and appropriate ways to send for sure! sounds like you have been seeing some pretty interesting fish out there; looking forward to updates on this guy and other fish you see/catch! nice job--
