just caught this gar about 2 hours ago, it is what look like a spotted gar but the long snout and the unclear pattern make me not sure it is 100% spotted or not!
last week I pull up a gar that seem to be a black spotted gar(or maybe it just mud cover on that fish) but when I almost pull it out of water it broke free from the rope lure and get awaysorry for late reply to your PM too - this is definitely a spotted gar, but given our previous work we'd definitely be interested in running some samples from those fish! will be in touch; be sure and get more pics of those guys so we can compare (all that being said, i would say 100% SPG, but we have population-level interests in the fish) --
