thank you! I will try to post some pic of the broad snout spotted gar that I caught a few months ago, he's now having very good coloration(maybe because he been eating Dainichi premium koi pellet that have part color enhancement?) and somehow he grew about 1 inch up to 25'' now!

according to you location and those pictures, I would say they are Florida gar!

I posted this little guy on here a few months ago - We all (including me) suspected Florida Gar, even though he looks funky - color/patterning.

Today I got a true Spotted Gar, and the two look identical. What do you guys think of the little guy now? (The first photo is of the spotted gar, and in the group photo, the spotted gar is the larger fish.)

The small gar will only eat FD Krill, and nothing else - so he hasn't really put any size on. get-attachment-1.aspx.jpegget-attachment.aspx.jpeg

unless you got the DNA, there is nothing really different between a spotted gar and a FLG!

Do you mean visually ?
The Spotted Gar is from outside the normal range of the Florida Gar - but we don't know where the little one is from.

yeah, you can't really tell the different between them by looking, it need scientific methods to do that!
