Geo Balzani from Rapps on the way....post your Balzani pics!!!!

Tank breed doesn't matter much beyond what Jeffs ph is. I would guess somewhere around the 7 range. Ask him, he'll tell you.

Balzani are really different in many ways from other Gymnogeos - bigger but also much milder in temperment.

Please don't mix the hobby (probably Paraguayan originally) balzani and the yellow Rio Uruguay ones. They're different races and mixing them will only confuse things. I'm sure they'll cross.

I also have my doubts about the F1 "Rio Uruguay" floating around from sources other than Peter. I grew some out for over a year and they looked nothing like the ones we collected near Bella Union, UR (and a lot like the ones already in the hobby). I have some from Peter and they're the real deal...

Matt

PS Don't keep them with other cichlds that are at all aggressive...or they'll be unhappy and susceptible to all sorts of bad things.

Thank you. I do have a pair of BN Plecos and 4 Loaches and some very ugly and extremely docile parrots (wifes). I am getting them from Jeff Rapps who I personally have quite abit of faith in. He has collected them himself in Uruguay, not the ones I am purchasing of course. I prefer the yellow Rio Uruguayan species as these are what Jeff claims to be. I suppose we'll find out in a few months as they are now about 3-4". Though if he claims they are of the r.urugyan species I would like to believe him. I'll post pics when they show up today or tonight. Thanks for the info. Is there any info in regards to the behavior of the two species.

My F-1's didn't come from Jeff...can't comment on what he's got.

They just showed up and I have them acclimating right now. They are certainly of the what seems to be the Urugyuan species. I received a trio, 1 male and 2 females. The male has the pronounced head and quite abit of color from what I could see. I kept the lights off. They are being drip acclimated. When I release them, I'll post some pics.

Sounds great. I know your excited especially after the great pics that have been posted. Post pics when your ready.

Kidding me? I was pretty damn close to pullin' them out of their shipping bags and pullin' a photoshoot right on the floor.

Here they are after an hour of drip acclimation....

They are all over the tank and eating every pellet I drop in. What diet do you suggest for these guys. Its funny to watch them. The trio swims together with the CL's
