In a 150 Gallon tank 72" x18" x 27" I am planning to have 5 Geophagus Altifrons. Should I just keep them by themselves or would they do better with dithers? If other fish fine and/ or beneficial, what would you suggest?

I personally would just do the five Geophagus Altifrons and add a group of tetra also a group of Cory .

I personally like Columbian blue tetra. Most tetra species will be fine with the exception of Buenos Aires which can be nippy and Exodon. Most Cory but some come from cooler regions.
I will look for the Columbian blue tetra. Maybe a dozen?
I like the C. Sterbei, that variety does well with my discus. A dozen, also?

Tbh the only vendor I know that may do that is Jeff Rapps @Tangledupincichlids.
I will look on his site.
Are all of the Geophagus species aggressive in the same way as the Altifrons? If not, maybe I should pick a different variety. I am used to very docile cichlids.

Yes a dozen would be fine and I see no problem with the C.Sterbei one of my personal favorites.
