So, as the water level goes down during a change, at one point it will reach the place where the suction cup is - and where the hole that I have drilled in the tube to hold that said cup is. My concern is that air would then go into the intake... though that remains to be tested.
A picture paints a 1000 words, now I understand, the tank is drilled as is the intake pipe hence the concern over the air:)

I can't see it being too much of a problem, your only looking at, if it leaks a tiny amount of air

I'll do a test at the next water-change, i.e. next Sunday. Then we'll find out :)

The tank is crystal clear now but for some reason I can't get a decent picture to share, too much motion blur :irked:

I bought it at a nearby LFS... quite expensive and very rare here... I'm thinking of getting some more pieces...
 
do snakeskin gourami's get monster size, mines pretty big right now, and i keep him in my cichlid tank and he fends for himself well

Petrified Wood really looks great when wet, but yeah it can be expensive.

No Snakeskin Gourami do not get nearly as large as GG do.
