sorry to hear about the bad news.... hope she pulls through, i have my fingers cross for georgina.

now i know not to house two GG together.
Thanks George.

She's still going but is not eating which is a worry, after the first move she eat after about 30 minutes. She's very spooked.

Not gourami love. Came home to find Georgina smashed up really bad. She's gone back in the grow out tank under heavy treatment, hopefully she will pull through, they are tough fish, but I'm guessing it's going to be 50/50. Such a shame as she's a really nice fish with bags of personality.

George has just come of his hunger strike and I'm guessing all the new energy has been put into trying to kill Georgina. If I can get her back to health, I'm going to try and find her a new home. I've got no options, she can't go in the big tank as George will kill her. Fatty(the Oscar) is a real moody fish and anything could happen if she went in that one. So the baby tank is the only option for now, even so she's grown so much since being in with George in no time at all so if she pulls through I'll have to act quickly.

Sorry to hear that your coupling didn't go well. I don't know how badly the female was beaten but I do believe that she will pull through. Good Luck with her dude.

I think that GG need to be housed more along the theory of housing lg. Arawonas in the same tank. except that with Arawonas the grouping can be in odd numbers. Groups of 1, 4, 6, 8 or more. I believe that mine got along so well if you will, because there were 2.2 or 2 on 2, everyone was in check. (also they all grew up together along with smaller fish). When I lost the first male then the remaining male started attacking one of the females. I thought that it was do to possibily wanting to pair off. But when the smaller female was removed, there was a constant battling.

tequila's, RTGG teeth theory

now

tequila's, GG coupling theory

GG are related to betta, and betta can not be housed together. would that apply to GG too?

or maybe

since GG require a large habitat maybe its a space issue?

Thanks man, She's healed up ok, Her anal fin is the only thing causing concern now all the battered up bits have healed well but it was nearly ripped off. It looks better today but she's not the same in herself, always trying to hide and eating very little.

I think it's all down to the stress of the move, going into the big tank was easy, once she got there, more space etc. but going back in the little one has upset her some what. Plus there is now 2 oscars being grown out in there as well but they are not causing any trouble as they are only tiny.

I'm unsure on the grouping debate. I think it all comes down to the individuals personality, George is moody and likes to kill anything in his tank, from day one when he was tiny he'd take on fish 3-4 times his size and win. Georgina is very playful(normally).

I think you right when you say growing up together goes along way.

I agree it has mainly to do with each individuals personality...

PCH was 1 of 3 at 1-1.5" in growout all by themselves, and she would have nothing disturbing "HER" tank even at that young age and size...

looking back, after she "dispatched" the other two EEGG's, I tried to house her with a Jaguar cichlid, she made his life miserable as well...:screwy:

Or ok I'm totally wrong at least about those dam EEGG, there just totally Crazed Beasts, that make better table fare than pets. Or maybe you EEGG owners should look into the idea of Fish fights for sport instead of dog fights. Because the more I think about it the less I remember ever seeing more than one EEGG in any size tank, at least that I recall. Ban those dam EEGG, ban them right now I say.;)

It would have to be closed circuit PPV.

Although I have seen the results, I can't say I have ever witnessed this crazy killer behavior.

I'm not sure why they do it with no witnesses, but then again maybe they're on to something...

Illegal fish fighting, PPVs:ROFL:

I've seen it, it's a charge and as the other fish tries to escape over the top it's followed by a tail slap.

There is nothing illegal about Fish Fights. It's done all the time, plus it would be really difficult for anyone to make it illegal as humans eat fish all over the world. It would be difficult to make people feel sorry for the poor GIGANTIC Fish that lost the battle and ended up on the dinner menu.
