Hello. Sorry for the delay in getting up new pics. Life sometimes gets in the way. I tried not using the flash to capture as much if his true color as possible and I think the third one down got pretty close to it. You can really see his brick red top and orange-ish bottom and see how blue his head is. Also, I re-measured him ( i guess it has been awhile since i did this last) and he is 16", not the previously stated 14". I tried getting different angles and what not. Enjoy!

Ok, here is what I and a friend (who's worked in the import business for more than 35 yrs) believe. And pls understand NO insults intended.

We believe that this fish was someones idea of a new breed. They crossed a RTGG with some other GG or other type of fish quite possibly a Cichlid and what the got they didn't want or was too messed up too survive. And this little guy managed to avoid the culling nets and made it too an out going shipment.

My friend has seen fish like this before, maybe not exactly but simular. Most of these odd ball fish come in from Asia, where there genetically toyed with. By breeders that are looking for the next new hot ornamental fish. GG's are bred in asia but more for the food value than for there ornamental value.

I apologize as I hope I have not hurt anyones feeling about this fish.

I say bullcrap, I'm not saying that yourself or your experienced friend is right or wrong but I see no hybridization. I'm not the expert here, you've got far more experience than me in the area, I know nothing about your friend.

To me it's 100% gg but the sizes on the head and body are all wrong, if you photo shopped the body larger then it would be a gg, I can't see why any one would try and genetically add or remove bits from a fishes genes to create some monster(in the ugly terms) that know one would want.

From what you are saying is that in Asia they will cross breed anything to create something different and this thing somehow slipped through the net.

I don't understand what the hell you could cross breed a gg with to create an odd looking gg:nilly:

Ok, I hope that this is just you after too many breakfast saugages, really!

So let's see then maybe it's a totally new never seen before GG speices, that just managed to make it too the pet trade without anyone notcing. The reason we say it's a fish that looks like it's was part of a breeding project that missed the culling nets it because where are all the rest of them?, why are it's side fins curled upwardly, they appear to be more on the deformed side than they do the norm.

You don't know why someone would cross breed fish to produce a strange and or unual looking fish. Are you kidding? Pls tell me that you don't believe that the Red Parrot Fish was created in the wild! Breeders play around with fish all the time. Heck for that matter there messing with all animals. Even during the regular breeding process breeders cull fish, this one was missed. Abnormal appearing fish don't sell very well in either side of the fish business ornamental or food.

I was just saying that too us it appeared to be a fish that missed being culled for whatever reason, if it was crossed or not. Because it looks very much like a RTGG except it's missing the coloration in the fins and body and the side fins are upturned as if deformed. Not to mention the abnormally large hump size and coloration.

"I don't understand what the hell you could cross breed a gg with to create an odd looking gg" = British Breakfast Saugages:ROFL:

I wish you all the luck in the world finding out as much asyou can about your RTGG.

That's how we see it here. Again = I apologize as I hope I have not hurt anyones feelings about this or another fish.

It would appear that falling out is a favorite past time for you! What did I tell you about having breakfast saugages & washing them down with wine, while calling it tea time:nilly:

A very large tank, other than that theres no way to lower the aggression of any fish, especially a GG..When they decide they dont like a tankmate, you either remove it dead or alive, your choice..sorry but thats the bottom line with this species. It has been my experience that GG's do not like top feeders/swimmers such as aro's, they breath and feed from the top and anything swimming near the top is in their breathing/feeding territory, they will defend it against much larger fish.
thanks for the advice may have to place one of the up for sale :-(

Your obsessed with sausages, over here we just have sausages, breakfast sausages are a new thing to me, and of course wine goes with everything:D

I take the point about it could an unculled fish but I don't understand how GGs would be culled, they are bred for food and exported to the hobby as babies, red tails show little color at that stage?

Obviously Wine goes with everything over there, including more wine as seen in the only sentence of the following paragragh "(I take the point about it could an unculled fish but I don't understand") huh did you actually say this out loud before you printed it here, huh? Your not the only one that doesn't understand = Sorry I be a bit behind in my Queens English, wanna repeat this sentence in REAL English, good O'l English of the USA!

Dude I think you just like arguing, fish produced for the food trade in Asia
would be between sub-adults & adults and probably killed and return as fish food if they where so deformed/disfigured. Juvi's to sub-adults would go to the pet trade unless they where messed up, disfigured or deformed. Yes I still state and believe that this GG missed the culling nets. You on the other hand can believe that it's a totally new sub/speice and run with that, be my guest. Sort of like the big hole in the back, i told you what you needed too do. You decided to first reinvent the filter, the wheel, and finally you did went to a Nexus.

You or Mister Ed wanna prove to me that the strange looking RTGG is a totally new speices or subspeices fine. Tell me O'great one why is this fish in the hands of some small time Aquarist and not on a shelve somewhere in a jar after being disested by some fish scientist somewhere. Or in the hands of some moneys no object breeder, that wants to promote the next hots fish????????????????????????????????
Because you do know that fish aren't like reptiles if you got either sex you can produce hundreds of both sexes in just one breeding value drops fast real fast. Unless your beast must be 9, 15 or 20 inches before breeding can take place. Why aren't the big breeders banging down his/her door for this fish????

I'll tell you why because this is all in your mind or maybe just maybe your right here but those scientist and those big money breeders don't believe that this fish is with worth what the great Yanbbrox claims it is :screwy:. Wonder why, could it be because he used to feed his EEGG what he termed/called Breakfast Saugage, which is now a new term too him. Hmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm we can only imagine.

And once again: My apologizes as I hope I have not hurt anyones feelings about this or another fish, but I've been asked for my opion and I have given it.
