Gold Saum

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i don't think its a third species. i think its a variant of one of the two. I'm leaning towards a rib variant but i could be wrong.

Stalsbergi and rivulatus have been called silversaum.
Stalsbergi is silver/white edged and there is a rivulatus variety in white/silver edging.
They were moved to the genus andinoacara around 2008

Sorry, heres a bigger pic.
See, now I was told the true Green Terror has white trim, so that's what I would have pinned as a true GT, but it clearly looks much more like a Saum, IMO

Regardless, a very attractive fish nonetheless.....What are the chances of gettingmy hands on a Silver Saum or a true GT in the current fish market trade?

The Andinoacara Rivulatus is the Golden Saum. Note the black spot is in the centre of the scale whereas the Andinoacara Stalsbergi is the actual GT, also note that it's scales are ringed with black as in a net. See attached two fotos clearly depicting the difference in scale reticulation.View attachment 1161232 View attachment 1161233
Isn't Aequidens Rivulatus the true GT?

Isn't Aequidens Rivulatus the true GT?
Yes it is.
Rivulatus is the true gt.It is also called silver saum and/or gold saum.
Rivulatus is the same fish regardless of being gold or white edged.
Stalsbergi only comes silver/white edged. It is not the true gt and it's scales are different to that of rivulatus.
