Got a new 225 acrylic tank, have some questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice. Good dimensions. I am less nervous about it at that height. Still not nothing though. I would say try and negotiate for a discount, but they will most likely lean on their warranty and say it is fine as is.

Ok thank you!

Ya thanks, and I completely agree. However my immediate concern is with reliability and structural strength of this tank. The other seems are perfect. You can barely even tell they are separate panels.

Just this one corner had this issue. What they also did (what I love) is they poured some Weldon on all sides of the tank on the inside (much like the tip and pour method).

So, no issues then?
Other than cosmetics no, not really any structural or catastrophic concerns. Being built with #40 goes a long way as well as that inside bevel of glue. Worth a shot to try and haggle a bit tho lol… never know. Ive put tanks back together with 40 plenty times over and relied on that inner bevel alone. To me it looks like that 1 sheet might not have been 100% flush/true hence the tiny air pocket. It is tough to be perfect 100% of the time when u have 1 shot to place the sheets. Nothin to lose sleep over IMO. Seen much worse come out “factory built” also.

I see, ya I don't know if they used 40 or 16, they said it's a special blend...maybe #2? I'm not sure but they said it's two part.

Just wanted to follow up, the entire tank was built with Weldon 40, I spoke to the owner of the shop and he confirmed. The inside "flooded seams" as they call it, are also #40.

the tank will be fine. Even though that’s some sloppy work on their part. I’ll PM you who I bet the builder is. I know their process and their craftsmanship looks familiar.
