Got a new 225 acrylic tank, have some questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Gonna go buy a
Not at all my man ??… all good… acrylic is soft, it bows… the important parts to prevent from moving are just the seams. As long as the seams/permitter are fully supported by plywood or shims to plywood ur good to go. The middle area of the tank will bow/settle to the stand if theres any gap with no ill effects as long as those seams cant move downward with it.

If that middle area is the only place that needs “filled in” u might b able to kinda hammer the shims under the ply if u want. Had a buddy do that up underneath the middle of his stand/braces also. I never go that far lol…

Gonna go buy a 72" I-beam level and check both stand and tank to see which one exactly is off. If it's the tank, I'm gonna have a word with the manufacturer lol.

Lol… IMO just how it goes. Material is never 100% true, neither are work surfaces…u’ll always have to compensate best u can.

Alright got the I beam and seems like it's both, the stand is just a tad not 100% flat but the tank is definitely not 100% flat. At the bottom of at the top. The back panel also is bulging in the middle area.

I would assume plywood can't be 100% flat, but the thickness of the one I have on there is 5/8. Should I add another 1/2" or 1"?

I really like your radius edges.

That tank would look great over a welded stand with no center supports or skin and filtration in a separate room. It would kind of appear to hover in the air.

Regardless, very nice.

Another sheet of plywood would solve both issues really. U could then just shim in between the 2 sheets easy to eliminate any gaps. Id go with 1/2”, no need for 1” since u already got a sheet down there. Lookin classy btw ??. I think i have the same tank ? 5’x3’x2’ ?

Lol thank you. Ya I'll go grab a 1/2 and throw it under there.

The dimensions for this one is 72"L x 30"W x 24"H
