My bichir ate a group of 6 kribs in about a week.
Which would you rather have? I personally prefer a combination of both and more on the "Let the fish do the talking side" But it honestly just comes down to what you want. What do y'all think? Should I go for a sparse look (which I already have btw) and let the fish do the talking, or should I make both the tank and the fish harmoniously weave together into an impressive aquarium?

Do the scape to suit the fish. I got plant cover for my bichir and gudgeon, got sand for my catfish, hides for everything. That big log is hollow and I’ve got a couple reptile hides hidden throughout the tank. There’s also a field of subswassertang hidden behind the log.Ok, so I'm having a bit of trouble with how I should go about decorating the tank. I feel like I should have a lot of open ground space for the bichir/bichirs, but at the same time, I want it to look like an aquascaped masterpiece.
So far, the only idea I see truly working is having two large cobbles anchoring a large piece of either manzanita, spider, or tiger wood.
I also have another idea, but I don't think it would work as it would tank up too much valuable bottom real estate: two large cobbles anchoring down a few medium to large pieces of driftwood that are contrasting colors (one dark and one light).
