Green terror information and tankmates For 75 gallons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This thread is like being stuck in the middle of a high speed game of tennis.
My heads spinning .
Just pick what you like and go with it . Win or lose . It's getting ridiculously repetitive now .

Based on Jewels, you can do a lot. You can have a pack of tetras, go with the bigger/high body ones, phantoms, skirts, Bunoes aries, Congos. A bottom feeder like Cory/pictus/Raphael cats, a pleco. Throw in some driftwood ,rocks, and some plants BAM one awsome tank.

theres no fool proof combination, all fishes are individual anyway, you might get a peaceful one or might get a murderer.
I think you have got enough feedback to make a decision, it's good you have asked so many questions ,it shows you are trying to do the right thing but there's no 100% correct answer anyone can give you.
It's time to bite the the bullet and make a decision., remember this should be a fun hobby so you shouldn't be getting too stressed.
Whatever you choose, good luck, hope it all works out.
After all this let us know what you decide to go with and post some pics of you can!

Dang, do you have anything to suggest regarding acaras

Not to be rude but go to google type in acara or aequidens species see what you like then see what you can get from places in your area or www.tangledupincichlids.com or wetspot.

I don’t mean to poop on your parade, but I just did a quick search on poly fish and it doesn’t look like where are too many species suited for a 75g tank, if at all really.

The smallest one is listed at 11”, which is great, so you would think, but this fish needs floor space, there’s not a whole lot of floor space in a 75g tank. Then if you put another species in the tank with this poly (if your lucky enough to find one of the “smaller” species in your area) and say you put two fish in and they pair, they will take up floor space with their nesting area leaving less for the poly.

That 11” poly is kind of like a small Oscar fish....would you keep two Oscar fish in a 75g with a couple of other cichlids?

I even think a jewel Cichlid or acara might be too small of a Cichlid to keep with a poly and eventually would be dinner.

If you kept a poly I would limit yourself to one poly and maybe one GT, or one JD.

An 11 inch poly can absolutely thrive in a 75 gallon tank. These are not incredibly active fish and do not require the foot print you are suggesting they need. Any upper jaw besides weeksii, teugelsi, and ornate would work in this tank. I know a 12 inch fish seems big but they really dont require the same space as a 12 inch cichlid, very easy to keep in groups as well.

View attachment 1299848 Oh and I also meant to post this...

That graph is highly inaccurate (not your fault) i remember seeing that yrs ago and thinking my god they get huge. Wc Teugelsi can easily get over 20 inches, i would sooner see big foot than a 16 inch sen and i had a del that never passed 9 inches.

I think that list may have some measurements taken for specimens on collecting trips. Op will most likely be getting captive bred fish which dont get nearly as large as wc plus there are quite a fee wc polys that would be fine

Hao Hao your the congicus whisperer how many 39 inchers have you seen in aquaria ?

T thefredpit can you post the size chart agian sorry bro

I have yet to see a 39"-42" Congicus. I've only heard of it. I've probably have only seen 1-2 possible 36"+ one. The rest were 24"-30".
