My 8" male Green Terror and 7-8" female Synspilum have been going at it and locking up nonstop, they recently both just dropped their "breeding parts" and were trying to clear their territory but they kept getting split up by my 13" Midas. I divided a part of my 200 gallon and separated them adding just a single 8" flower pot and they seem to love it! Both are definitely in breeding mode and I'm eager to see what happens next, could be very a interesting hybrid! I'll post pics tonight!

Would be a great mix but I'm pretty sure GT cannot hybridize with any fish

Yeah,it'd definitely be cool cross no doubt! I've also heard that GTs can't cross but I'm not convinced,I think it's because nobody has been able to get them to breed with another species but I could be wrong. This male GT is the aggressor of the 2 and is definitely trying with her, there's no doubt of that.

my friend has a male gt and a female blue acara. he gets fry from them all the time. he sells them to a lfs as blue acara. so it is possible however in your case not to sure though i love to see how the fry turn out.

gt and blue acara are similar fish so it is possible,i think every one means crossing out side the same species

I have yet to see a Green Terror hybrid but it being a SA cichlid it couldn't hybridize with a CA cichlid anyway.

The only South American Cichlid that can hybridize with a Central American Cichlid is Festae but any Central American Cichlid should be able to hybridize with any other Central American Cichlid.

What makes it impossible for a GT, or other SA other than Festae, to hybridize?

good question, would like to know the answer myself(i just always heard they couldnt but never knew why)
