Honduran red points

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Agreed ?. And I think that is his TUIC male and a Bioaquatix female.
Indeed it is. Was just about to say. Getting another pair for the colony from TUIC next week.

Learned something cool about the bioaquatix female today, she idly has a blue chest and face, but her gills are idly white. I noticed while showing her the mirror today that she can fire up, and turn her pelvic fins/anal fin/belly/face/gills a solid, dark blue. Snapchat-1943097843.jpgSnapchat-681057697.jpg
Bad pictures, but does the job. Ignore the algae, the tank is between two windows.

Fry are getting up and at it today. Yolk sacs are gone, but they're still sitting in the nest for the most part. I expect they'll be herding the fry around the tank by the time I get home. You can see the female's "fired up" coloration" pretty good in this. Blue lipstick

Yeah she’s a beautiful fish! But sadly I highly doubt she’s 100% pure. I feel like Ken Davis should explain why they look more like convicts than the other lines, because a lot of us have questions at this point

It looks like I've missed out on a lot of good discussion y'all have been having. I agree with you 100%. I feel like Ken's don't look 100% like HRP either. When I brought it up to him, he seemed offended that I would even question his "expertise" and pretty much told me to kick rock if I wasn't gonna buy his fish. At the time, I was wanting some HRP so badly and saw that @Showtimekev had previous good luck with what his fish looked like (this was actually confirmed through your HRP thread). So I took a leap of faith and bought a group from Ken. Sad to say, the batch I got was one of the questionable ones with the gray base. I'll update pictures of what mine from Ken look like now. Pictures just taken tonight after reading everything you all had been talking about.
I just received these in the mail today from Ken Davis at Southeast Exotics and Tropicals Inc. Supposedly his line are direct descendants of Rusty's line as well. Can anyone who have kept young Honduran red point cichlids confirm that these look like young HRP and not hybrid mixes? I'm hoping they'll color up more as they settle in (they're in a quarantine tank) and mature.

This is how my group turned out. Sad to say, but I'm really disappointed in them. I was hopeful that they may start to color up as they mature more. But after seeing what everyone's been talking about. I may just scrap this group of what should have been a "dream fish" of mine.

Yessir that’s me. I have no problem sending you some. My bluest male & bluest female just had fry, so I can raise them up and send them to you if you’d like.

@Showtimekev If you have any that are ready or soon to be ready, please put me down on your list to buy some of your bluest HRP f3 as well. I'd hate to give up on this dream fish of mine. I just want some nice looking ones from a reliable stock.

I've got some growing out from the pair in my videos as well. Only about 3 weeks old though. If you would not like to wait, TUIC has some available.
