Honduran red points

Sounds good, might actually be perfect timing. Exactly two weeks from now?

Also, just saw a really weird behavior in one of the ken Davis females. She paired with one of the bioaquatix males, and has been flaring around the tank and doing the territory mark scratching. But then I see her do this thing, she stops and hovers in one spot, all fins still open to the normal idle position, she closes her tail, and... wags it, side to side, rapidly, like a duck
I watch her do her rounds for a bit and she stops in the same spot to do it like 3 more times

I've seen other cichlids do a thing where they'll curl their tail to one side and try to fold their peduncle in to the other, I believe this is some sort of scratching motion, but this wasn't what I saw in the female. It literally looked like something out of a cartoon. The peduncle didn't curl or bend when she did it, it was just a little flicking motion.

It couldn't have been a stress thing, because she was just idly sitting with no other fish around when she did it, and all her other fins were open. Only other body language I've seen them use where they close their tail is a submission thing where they close/dip their tail and close all their other fins. I don't think she was trying to scratch anything either.

I tried to pull my phone out to record, but I think she associates food with my bright blue phone, as I usually record when I feed them, so she came up to the glass and started doing runs up and down the glass to get my attention. I did not end up getting video of it.

Ah I see, definitely perfect timing then. You can send them out the following Monday after that for delivery that week then.

This female in this screenshot is from ken Davis recently, and she looks just like yours. I just feel like she can’t be full HRP because she’s so dark compared to my male from Rusty.

The grey base color does also throw me off a bit, but I'm not sure where that could come from. I went through and looked at all my convicts, some from Ken, they all have separated and straight barring like HRPs, one of these being the Rio mongos that actually used to be considered HRPs, and found that none had the connected barring except for the Rio cholutecas. The cholutecas themselves have a whitish base color like normal HRPs. I've had his Lago Nicaraguas and his Rio claros, but their females are very streamlined compared to the HRPs, and the female Lago Nicaraguas have extremely high amounts of orange. When translated over to HRPs in crosses, this would end up being pink, but she still doesn't have a lot of pink/orange on her abdomen. I don't know of anything he has that he could've bred them to, and I don't think you can breed the iridophore gene out without crossing. For now there is technically no evidence in favor of them being crosses but it is still kinda confusing. I don't think they'd suddenly start looking like convicts, as Kevin's look the same as they did 20 years ago.

This is Kevin's male from 1998, vs my male a few months ago:

Did you ever end up getting fry from that pair/how did they end up looking?

Ken Davis does say that rusty wessel’s line throws in some xanthic fry, I guess meaning that some will be blue and some will be grey. I’ve personally never experienced that, and even rusty himself said he’s never experienced it from what I remember. But my buddy in New Jersey who is line breeding his red points, said that half his batch was blue and the other half was grey, and he bred out all the grey. He’s sent me plenty of videos so I see that it’s true. Heres a screenshot of his batch.
notice how some have the classic mint green HRP background while some are grey.

Xanthic would mean something like platinums, more along the lines of leucism. Is your friend's pair pure?

Yes they are pure for sure. I’ve seen his fish. Also from what he told me, xanthic isn’t only platinum, it could be grey as well. Here’s a message from here and here are pics of his fish.
