We have been sunny the last week or so with temperatures in the upper 80's though humidity has been low so just keeping the windows open.

Around this time last year the UK had a very short spell of temps in the low 40's°C, absolutely unheard of. A very hot freak "spike" from North Africa swept across Europe and came as far north as the UK.

At the moment it's happening again! Much of Europe is basking but unfortunately for sun worshippers such as myself, this year the predicted forecasts are telling us the UK will miss out.

But worry not. If the red hot weather isn't going to come to me......then I'm going to go to it!! Next Thursday we're flying out to Greece for a 10 day break. Can't wait now.

Actually, I prefer it a little hotter when we are on the water. Here's a memory from July 13, 2014:

I would hate living in an area where it gets this hot, if I'm not on the lake. Don't know how people survive in this kind of hot weather during a power outage. Forecast for Saturday and Sunday is 109. We broke camp fairly early this morning and headed home. I forgot to turn the AC back on. Messaged the RV Park owner and asked him to turn the AC on for us. It is set high at 80 degrees, but that is way cooler than 120+ it could get in there if the AC was not on. Ever since the devastating fires in Northern California in 2018 many of which were blamed on a power company, power outages have been pretty regular...in fact, there was an outage from 12:30 to 3 am last night. While our cats enjoy "camping", they might not survive an outage if they were left in camp during the day, so they don't get to go "camping" any more.

Pretty incredible to be that hot and see the snow on Mt. Shasta in the distance.

In these parts, we expect a few "really hot" days each summer, i.e. temps at or slightly above 80F. I think we have hit 85F on one or two days in the decade I've lived here. Typically, the "warm" months of July and August are still in the mid-to-high 70F's.

Right now we are in the middle of a beautiful spell of magnificent weather; nighttime lows are around 50F (a couple degrees below typical) and daytime highs are 70-75-ish, which is right about where expected. Morning coffee on the deck with the Hummingbirds and warblers. Deer in the adjacent pasture wearing their lovely cinnamon-coloured summer pelage. A just-fledged brood of Red-headed Woodpeckers (IMHO one of North America's most spectacular birds) clamouring for their parents to feed them. Fish dimpling the surface of the pond, dragonflies patrolling above. And summer attire of shorts/t-shirt/sandals for a couple months straight.

The only triple-digit temperatures seen around here are on a meat thermometer at the barbecue. But the actual air temperature...over a hundred...?

...nope, nope, nope, nope, uh-uh, nope, nope, nope, nope.........
