Okay, this is almost unbelievable. The "normal" daily max temperature for today in my area, according to the Gummint of Kanada weather service, is -13C. Today we are forecast to have a blistering -3C! A couple days later, it is supposed to be +4C!!! A
positive temperature number!!! Insane!
I have been on a couple of Christmas Bird Counts in the past couple days, and we have been able to venture into areas and onto country roads that haven't been counted in ages because they are typically snowed in by December. While there is still a bit of white stuff on the ground here and there, especially in the shady treed areas, by and large we are devoid of snow. With none in the forecast for at least another week, we are on track for a brown/grey Christmas. We have already had several decent snowfalls, each followed by a warm spell that melted it all away.
I know it's coming...it's inevitable...I will be shovelling and blowing and cursing...but I am, for the moment, loving this!
