How’s the weather?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what on earth don't you like about that?

I'm guessing surfer dude is a little perplexed because "mid 50's today" is too cold for pond building, and "73 tomorrow" is far too warm for pond building.

He was probably hoping for mid 60's which, I believe, is the perfect temperature for pond building.

He's raring to go and the damn weather keeps hindering his progress!

Yeah, probably waiting for that perfect construction-weather window: between 69.3459F and 69.3627F.

Anything outside that Goldilocks zone is just unbearable....

Or maybe, just maybe, surfer dude is a lot cleverer than we give him credit for. Maybe he keeps heeding the warnings of the imminent earthquake in that area and doesn't want all his hard work undone by a shaker!

Just imagine flogging your guts out on a 50g pond for weeks on end, only to have it split in half by an earthquake. No, I'm giving our little friend the benefit of the doubt on this one, he has more sense than we thought, lol.

Okay, I am not completely sure that I understand the thought processes of Homo sapiens californicus so I will just ask: what on earth don't you like about that? 🤔

I believe that Canadians stay inside mostly and write beautiful thought provoking poetry. This is one that jjohnwm jjohnwm penned.

That is my fervent hope...:)

JK, Shadow...sorry, couldn't resist.

Nobody wants to see your pond finished, filled and stocked more than I do...

...including, apparently...you! :)

Tell the truth, now; you've been toiling relentlessly in silence...preparing an awesome pond to dazzle us all...getting ready to unveil it to the rest of us...right?

That's a Canuck Haiku...as many syllables as you can write down before your fingers freeze solid. :)

I busted out laughing at that so loud that I startled the dog. :)

Hey...when it gets colder, you dress warmer.

But...when it gets hotter...how to cope?

I don't know how the Aussies do it!

Okay, this is almost unbelievable. The "normal" daily max temperature for today in my area, according to the Gummint of Kanada weather service, is -13C. Today we are forecast to have a blistering -3C! A couple days later, it is supposed to be +4C!!! A positive temperature number!!! Insane!

I have been on a couple of Christmas Bird Counts in the past couple days, and we have been able to venture into areas and onto country roads that haven't been counted in ages because they are typically snowed in by December. While there is still a bit of white stuff on the ground here and there, especially in the shady treed areas, by and large we are devoid of snow. With none in the forecast for at least another week, we are on track for a brown/grey Christmas. We have already had several decent snowfalls, each followed by a warm spell that melted it all away.

I know it's coming...it's inevitable...I will be shovelling and blowing and cursing...but I am, for the moment, loving this!
