How’s the weather?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Currently -62F with the wind chill. Colder than Siberia

Red Deer, AB - 7 Day Forecast - Environment Canada (weather.gc.ca)

Ouch

Lol, I had a little chuckle to myself as I was reading that forecast. My missus had just come in from having a cigarette at the back door complaining how freezing cold it is outside! It's currently about 2°C here, lol.

If she had to go to the back door in -62°f temps I doubt I'd ever see her again, lol.

Thank you, sir! I now realize how good I have it here.

Today is snow-blowing day; I have a fresh foot of the white stuff to manage, and we have almost no winds to contend with. Temp now is -24C, windchill -34C, and it's forecast to climb to a blistering -16C with light winds; perfect snow-blowing weather. I may wear my kilt! :)

I may wear my kilt!

Be sure to put some undercrackers on! With temperatures like that methinks it'd be extremely foolhardy to go with the "nothing underneath" tradition!

And especially that is if you're going chopping wood....we don't want you getting frostbite on your chopper!!

Lots of rain here. Flood warning and advisory for the lower lying areas. Our beautiful river is ugly and surly today.

Bottom of our river trail is under water.

We haven't seen the river this high before. Lots of debris and logs being swept downstream.

Right now, we are preparing for a freeze (Monday-Wednesday is going to be a high of early 33 and a low of mid-teens). Which is rare down here, so all the Walmarts and other stores are like zoos. It's been a good 67 degrees today, though this morning was a cold 33 degrees.

Cold today during snow blowing, -26C with a windchill of -36C. Forecast calls for windchills of -40C to -55C for the next few days. Maybe the kilt will remain in the undercracker drawer. :)

So...that's a high for this season? Or an all-tme high?

It looks from the pictures like you are well-situated on higher ground overlooking the river?

We've had a bout with howling winds the past few days and it's doing a number on a section of siding on my house!

Extreme cold "for us" of 15°f and some snow blew in and decided to stay for a couple days. Not a lot of snow, little more than an inch. But the cold is the big part. I am in a 400 something foot studio and the heater is just keeping it warm enough. Not built for Extreme temps for sure.

The odd thing of this is, this just may be the last time I ever see snow. With my plans of moving to the Philippines, the chance of seeing snow there is slim to none.
