How aggressive are red terror being south american cichlids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
When I said personality, I meant like a Midas or what you might get out of a full grown male dovii. They have great personalities like my male and female "greet" me at the glass Everytom I walk downstairs. However to answer your question about their behavior with bigger cichlids, I have learned that they won't back down. They may respect another fish being the most dominant, but they won't let it beat it up for damn sure. They will fight to the grave, I've especially seen that in my female, she never gives up lol. My male can be a pretty aggressive guy himself, I'll post a vid.

I heard a few times that female festae can be pretty nasty.

im asking about the aggression Guys" as don't wont the Terror" Terrors to rip my prized peacock bass " bass are 12-14 inch"

post a video MP

Aggressive behavior of any fish depends on multiple factors.
Genes , availability of food , tank space , having a mate around(breeding).
Few people may say , the Red terrors are timid , while few the oppositte .
there is no 1 common thing that can be generalised. among any living thing on earth.
i have 6 of them , except for few hit n run or flaring, they are peaceful , which might change if a pair forms and they decide to breed.
Answering your question on if GT , Festae and Peacock bass can hit it off...it all depends on size of the tank and the sexes of the fishes you add.
what is the size of the tank you are planning to introduce them to ?

yes understand that every cichlid can be different and can change with a number of things!
im thinking 7ft 2ft 2ft tanks with bass 10-14 inch" Bass are not aggressive with other species of fish"

I have 1 bass in my tank.... The only problem that I have had is ... Any fish South of 7 inches goes in n never comes out. It is not aggressive but deals with TKO.
So the Festae that you add should also be wide enuf that the bass does not experiment to open its already wide mouth.

Here is the thing though, any festae that is big enough to not fit in a 14" bass' mouth, is gotta be sexually mature. In a big tank, even if you have all females, they can still lay eggs, obviously they won't be fertile, but I can tell you now that the female will still guard them with her life. I think you can get away with an all male tank.

Yes bass are real predators" but mine wont eat frozen fish/prawns or muscles" Will only eat sinking massavor pellets" so smaller red terror say 5-6 inch should be ok"

pic of 1 pair of the bass in tank"
