Same here. Buy it cheap buy it twice as the Russians say.

I now have 4 eheim canisters of different types and they all run as well as day one and are silent.

Hydor Theo heaters have always treated me well, even against the glass banging fish. I've also had great luck with my Rena XP2 canister filter; wouldn't trade it for anything.

i will have to admit that this was a really useful thread... i was wondering between an eheim 2260 and an AquaEl Unimax Pro, but i think i am completely leaning towards the eheim now...
and while i am at it i guess i will get myself a jager heater too...

Thats what I thought when I was planning to get a canister. I now have 3 eheim canisters running

Eheim 2217. Made in 1991...still running. Onlything I've ever replaced is the hoses and upgraded some of the media.

So thats 18 years strong and silent as ever.

I have beeen running 5 Rena XP3 filters all for at least 6 years and have had no problems that were not my fault with any of them. (broke 1 cannister) Also I still have in use the penguin 300 that was the first filter I ever bought new in 1993 and The only problem was a impellor that a snail got in and ruined. I love Marineland products and the way they stand behind them.
