Fluval 304, been going strong for 6 1/2 years! Just normal maintanence/cleaning!

Walmart 55 g start up kit, with aquatech (I think that is the brand) HOB filter, also going strong for 6 1/2 years, although it is a bit noisy now.

I have a fluval 403 that has been running for 19 years and have not had to replace any parts yet!

eheim 2028 5 years and running... slight leak from ring underneath motorhousing, but only when i pick it up from the sides. eheim/jager submersible heaters 100w each... 5 years and running... still run during water change as long as coil section isn't above water.

well i know it hasnt been that long but i have had a whisper20 (old edition) since 2007! ive only hjad to replce the propeler 1 time. usually on this type of filter you need to do it like every 6 months! i have it on my 20 gallon and it is super clean!

I would have to say that the Aqua clear 500 is my fav so far when you factor in the low cost, turn over rate, and reliability. Not too many canister filters can match that.

Just a recommendation, I would trash the common garden hose. They are not food grade, and often have harmful heavy metals in them, as well as many algaecides, and mildewcides. The RV hoses, white with blue stripe, are meant to be used to supply water for human consumption, and are less likely to introduce something into your aquarium.
darn when i was a little kid i used drink out of the hose, i thought the rubbery taste it added was good.
