How much is an 18" wild oscar worth?

Upon further review of threads written by the member that you provided a link to, he actually purchased two 12" Oscars at a cost of $25 each. So you are correct, this is real world market values. This was the point that I was trying to make much earlier and got flamed for it. This guy is from my area , and this is what Oscars go for around here, wild or not. A bigger one could get a few bucks more. This true fishkeeper bought large Oscars in my area at the same price that I qouted earlier. This is only the case here though. A wild Oscar of such a large size may command more where you live. To a person that is in the market for one, they may be willing to pay much more than even $100. But that's with any fish that someone really wants. Thanks for providing this link for us. Too bad the two Oscars were eaten shortly after being introduced into his pond.:( Good night, everyone. Very good, now factor in record setting size, age and native origin and you may understand why the big wild caught oscar is worth more than the 12 inch farm raised common oscars.
 
matter of opinion; some people pay thousands of dollars for koi that I wouldn't buy for 50. But the value of that koi (if in the right market) is obviously much higher than what its worth to me. I'd actually rather not buy a large, wild caught fish. I like small fish that I can watch grow into mosters; and would prefer if animals weren't taken out of their natural habitat so often (but also would like to avoid inbred ones, so it's a catch 22).

in short..I wouldnt pay for that oscar; other people would pay 100 i guess. Thats what auctions are for
 
idk man...oscars arent that bad and such like jeffs bumblebee oscar or watever theyre called but...that thing is just :crazy: :barf:..the body shape is soo contorted....id maybe take that thing for free but thats it....no offense to the op's fish in anyway...beauty is in the eye of the beholder...he asked for opininions so im titled to mine;)
 
Arguing aside, I'd pay $100 for an 18 inch wild Oscar.
 
haha. im about to go fishin next week and catch me some big oscars for my tank. got to love south florida haha

It wasnt a factor, but the dark olive camo color pattern was.
 
I seriously don't understand the argument here. Everyone has different taste in fish and everyone has a different perspective on value and beauty. In fact this argument is an example of that. So everyone stop arguing over NOTHING.
