Now that's the tough bit, i know i have different types of Pangasius but not which ones! So here's the majority of them:

Pangasius pangasius

Pangasius nasutus

Pangasius micronemus

Pangasius larnaudii

Pangasius hypophthalmus - most likely suspect for mine.

Best of luck to you man , it's admirable work you're doing.
I'm using a BOYU EF 25 filter canister. I know there are better ones out there but the Eheim i previously had got damaged and i needed a quick replacement so i had to go chinese. It says on the box it handles 450 L and I've got a 120 gal tank. any idea if that's sufficient?

The app calculates filtration need based on the bioload of the setup rather than the size of the tank. So if you have a large tank with one neon in it, your filtration capacity will grossly exceed the required need. So it all depends on what you have in that tank...

What I can do, is to add your filter to the list so that you can try it out yourself...
