thks for the follow up & filter answer

my temps for my discus/oto tank is 86F
I am getting quite a conflicting message from the info sites - those two are claimed to be compatible everywhere yet temperature requirements stop at 80F in most profile sites for Oto. Temp requirement must be wrong since I doubt anyone who knows how to keep Discus keeps theirs at 80F.

hi there, I only added otos since a few other members have had the combo & success with them. they don't appear to be in stress at my hi temps, swimming & sucking away.

I'm am looking to add albino aeneus corys with discus, so will input to probably see the same result - not temp compatible

if I were to added 12 albino cory juvies

Warning: Water temperature requirements are not fully compatible between all selected species.
=> 82.4 - 87.8F: Discus (14 juvies)
=> 68 - 78.8F: Oto (3 juvies)
=> 71.6 - 80.6F: Albino Cory (12 juvies)
[Display in Farenheit]
Recommended pH range: 5.5 - 7.8.
Recommended hardness range: 1 - 15 dH.

You have plenty of aquarium filtration capacity.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 133%. [What's this?]
Recommended water change schedule: 51% per week. (You might want to split this water change schedule to two separate 30% per week)
Your aquarium stocking level is 150%.

Yeah... I've also seen other sites where people say otos are doing fine with Discus. Perhaps I should relax temperature requirements for these guys...

another suggestion to your algorithms, not sure if this has been made before.

can you provide more analytics to allow for sizing of fish vs. using adult size as the standard premise?

i.e. if I have 14 discus of varying sizes (a couple of stunters, a few growing normally, a few growing slower) 2.5" 3.0" 3.5" 4.0"

same with plecos - as of course as adults they produce much more in volume than as juvies (tho juvies poop constant tiny poopies whereas adults poop less but large chunkies!)

I believe what you are asking for is another field when entering species - age. I would think a stunted 1 year old fish at 3 inches would produce less bioload compare to a growing 5 months old fish at 3 inches. This could be possible but it will be really experimental.

Have you tried juvy mode? It does let you enter different sized fishes of the same species.

This site is funny, I didn't want to post on my current stocking in my 225g as it just showed a huge line of warnings...But I did do one for my 450g and it stilled showed a bunch of warnings lol.

This test was with 3 silver aros, 2 Pbass, 3 Siamese Tiger Pulcher, and a RTC and this is what I got.

Warning: Peacock Bass Ocellaris is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 25 inches.
Warning: Red Tailed Catfish is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 60 inches.
Warning: Red Tailed Catfish requires a tank with more height.
Warning: Your selected species may eventually require 546% of your aquarium space. You may need to deal with territorial aggressions later on. Try removing some of (Datnioides pulcher, Phractocephalus hemioliopterus) or get a larger aquarium tank.

Recommended temperature range: 24 - 27 C.
Recommended pH range: 6.5 - 7.5.
Recommended hardness range: 5 - 15 dH.

You have plenty of aquarium filtration capacity.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 135%.
Recommended water change schedule: 62% per week. (You might want to split this water change schedule to two separate 38% per week)
Your aquarium stocking level is 159%. </B>
