Yeah, I disagree with the warnings. The info there is a bit on the conservative side. Anyway, I've never had any problems with those fish being together, but then that's just my experience.

Here's how I would like to setup the 80gal I just got:

Selected species:

2 x Needlenose Gar (Xenentodon cancila)
2 x Slant Nose Gar (Ctenolucius hujeta)
5 x Silver Dollar (Metynnis argentus)
2 x Pictus Catfish (Pimelodus pictus)

Total selected: 11 fishes.

Recommendations/Warnings/Suggestions/Notes:

Warning: Needlenose Gar is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 12 inches.

Recommended temperature range: 75.2 - 78.8 F.
Recommended pH range: 7 - 7.5.
Recommended hardness range: 10 - 15 dH.

Your aquarium filtration capacity is satisfactory.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 108%.
Recommended water change schedule: 35% per week.
Your aquarium stocking level is 120%

Disagree with the warning, though.
Which warnings didn't you agree with? I can look further into those.

Thanks.

This.

Why would a 12" fish be too large for a tank with a depth of 18.5"? Plenty of roon to swim and turn around. (48x18.5x24) Granted I wouldn't put more than two of these fish in there but this size aquarium would be fine for a single species of sa cichlid, which would have much more body mass than the skinny needlefish. Again, I'm just going on what has worked for me.

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 26%. <--- I disagree
Recommended water change schedule: 51% per week. (You might want to split this water change schedule to two separate 30% per week)
Your aquarium stocking level is 122%

Very cool calculator!

Thanks for the feedback. It is probably using the initial value which is derived from the general formula. With this update, it will become more accurate. :D

Wow, could you post your link here? I want to see what happened with that filtration capacity value. It can't be that low...

Thanks.

the warnings.. like rivershark said very conservative
Correct. It is done conservatively by intention. Basically, start off with conservative values, and slowly fine tune them towards more realistic values. Been doing this for a while now... :D

Recommendations/Warnings/Suggestions/Notes:

Warning: Congo Tetra may become food for Ropefish.
Warning: Delhezi Bichir is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 14 inches.
Warning: Ornate Bichir is not recommended for your tank - it may eventually outgrow your tank space, potentially reaching up to 24 inches.
Note: African Butterfly Fish may jump - lids are recommened.

Recommended temperature range: 25 - 27 C. [Display in Farenheit]
Recommended pH range: 6 - 7.5.
Recommended hardness range: 5 - 15 dH.

Warning: You NEED to add more aquarium filtration capacity!!!

Your aquarium filtration capacity for above selected species is 64%.
Recommended water change schedule: 72% per week. (You might want to split this water change schedule to two separate 47% per week)
Your aquarium stocking level is 180%.
Your tank is seriously overstocked. Unless this setup is temporary, you should consider a larger tank.
Only thing I really disagree with is this:
Warning: Congo Tetra may become food for Ropefish.
You should reduce the mouth size for ropefish. Increase the size of congo tetra from 3 to 4.
