Geophagus sp. "Araguaia Orange Head" versus Geophagus Sp. Tapajos "Orange Head" is extremely interesting to me. Thank you for posting that and the references. Looking forward to more traction on it.

Sorry about your luck with the canister. I wish you lived in the states, I would have just given you one of my classics. If shipping is in your budget I have a Eheim 2215 and a 2217 you are more than welcome to have them if it helps you out. :D

Thanks for the offer but it's definitely not worth the hassle. The 2217 has been stored away and will do well as a parts mule for my other Eheim Canisters. Unfortunately I had purchased a new impeller shaft and impeller the day prior to me dropping it, which was the reason I was moving it. Fortunately the impeller housing between the two models is identical, and running the 2217 6-blade impeller (as opposed to the 3-blade standard impeller) gives you a few hundred extra litres per hour. Picked up one of the two Eheim Professional 2228's I've got planned for when I upscale the tank today as well.

In some bad news I had to return my Glowlight Tetra today. I lost a total of 5 of them and the rest were looking quite stressed ever since I purchased them. Whether it's the Satanoperca leucosticta causing them to stress out (though I doubt it, they would sleep in the same dugouts with them), the Rosy Tetra, or just the overall tank layout I'm not sure. They would school loosely around the mid to lower levels of the tank even though I had cover provided at the top for them. More than likely a lack of plants.

Returned them for a partial refund as they're such lovely fish, and as soon as they went into a store tank at Fishchicks, filled with Java Moss, they appeared much happier than they ever were in my tank. Used the credit to pick up another 10 Rosy Tetra to boost my shoal to 35 and they had already coloured up and were looking fantastic. Good having a supplier I can trust to introduce species straight into a setup without quarantine - although one day I'll possibly have to eat those words.

GI've got to say that I'm not a huge fan of all of the tetra's. They are nice looking tetra's it just seems like there are 2 many of them for a 4ft tank. The school seems to start at one end of the tank and end at the other.
Completely agree now that there's 35 Rosy Tetra darting around the woodwork of the tank without any Glowlights. Unfortunately hindsight always comes after you've bought them :p

Alright, couple of quick videos then a quick preview of the plans that started today.

Borrowed a friends DV Camcorder and took these videos, they're not fantastic quality but they're better than what comes out of my Fuji P&S as the sand doesn't explode the contrast on this.

75G Rio Tapajos Biotope
- A Perfect Circle - Blue (Amotion DVD Bonus Remix)

140G Rio Essequibo Biotope
- Radiohead - Creep

Please watch in HQ.

Now, plans?

Setting up a 20" rimless/braceless glass cube biotope based around a yet to be decided F0 Apistogramma species. Still planning the stocking but it will be filtered by an Eheim Classic 2215 with Lily Intake/Outlet, lit by Halides, and will be reasonably densely planted.

ADA Style Stand, UP Aquasoil with a natural setup with leaves/driftwood etc. Expect to see some Otocinclus, possibly Corydoras, and a shoal of 12 or so small Tetra or Pencilfish as well. Will be good fun setting it up and I'll make sure there's plenty of photos.

Rio Icana with Apistogramma Elizibethae would be pretty sweet. Densely planted wouldn't really make it a biotope though.

Well neither would using Indian Almond or Bloodwood or Maple leaves so decor doesn't phase me with biotopes provided it appears natural and fits the requirements of all species present in the tank. I'd also be incredibly surprised if you could find a river in North Western Brazil/Columbia that didn't have densely planted regions.

It will be a Peruvian biotope stocking of some description anyway, as I'll be looking at picking up F0 species. Will get the Apistogramma in Fishchicks next shipment, and work from there.

PS. Rio Uaupés would be correct for an A. elizibethae biotope ;) They all connect to the Rio Negro, but the Rio Icana is a fair distance north.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I%C3%A7ana_River

Nice vids. I definately like the look without the glowlights better. Looking forward to seeing the upgraded tanks!!!!! I want to see if the tetras act differently with the added length. I always like you nice clean looking setups.
