man im a big 'ol noob too, this is my first planted tank. i guess ive been lucky :D best advice i can give you on algae is to crank up your co2 (assuming youre using pressurized) and make sure your lighting levels are ok. some more info on your setup would be helpful. you can post it up in this thread if you like :)

another thing, what type of algae is it? if its cladophora, or blanketweed, use some regular hydrogen peroxide. ive been getting blanketweed for a few weeks now. it pops up every now and then but i get rid of it quickly.

put some peroxide in a syringe and squirt the blanketweed everyday for about 3 days. it will dry up and die in no time. if it's the regular hair or thread algae, then this is mainly caused by low co2 levels. have you seen this algae guide? it's great...

i am all most positive my algae problem is CO2 related. I am using a DIy yeast/sugar setup, 2-2liters run to a power head for diffusion. i just need to bite the bullet and by some pressurized. But man is it pricey.-----------------I won't clutter up your thread anymore cause i know what the problem is deep down. And thanks for that link I have seen it before but i had lost it out of my favs.--------i am glad you did not give up a while back cause that tank is a inspiration. thanks

no problem man, post away! the more views the better :D

yeah unfortunately i dont know anything about DIY co2. just the thought of it gives me the creeps lol! pressurized aint that bad really. you can get a milwaukee regulator for less than $100 and get a glass diffusor or build your own reactor (about $20), and then all you need is a bottle. i got a 5lb on ebay for $55 shipped. thats all you need really
