He sent me the same picture when I was looking for a male syn. Its ok but I have seen better but of course with a higher price tag. As far as having a nuchal hump, its hard to tell, at least I can't.

Synspilum dont get 17'' more like 14'' if in a big tank and well cared for.
Tank size has nothing to do with how large a specimen will grow.

Not enough red on the head. Red should cover forehead, cheeks, and some of the nose area.I have seen these guys around 16".
Lots of geographical variants. All of them are beautiful, even those without the red heads.

One of my favorite fish. Very few will hit 14" in a home aquarium.

Hi Aquamojo, i have been following yourwork for some time now, your pictures of your cichlids are mindblowing! a true credit to the hobbie.

What do you think of some of my pictures, only taken with a cell phone as new baby got in the way of an SLR but i love it all the same. p.s, here is my synspilum, comments welcome.

Thanks and keep the pictures coming

Absolutely true!

You'll just get a stunted, deformed, unhealthy fish! COOL!! And his life expectancy will be cut in less than half...

The red will come out better is she's feeling at home and back in the water.
I presume it's a female, or a young male, looking at the missing hump on the forehead.
