True but theres nothing like a painted on background if you ask me...sharp crisp deep color. Unless you make a natural one. I could layer the back with corkbark but that takes away from the 18" depth

agreed!

lol thanks...I need to hang them on the wall.

idk what im going to do about the dithers...id hate to mess up the pair. I'll see...re-deco first

Nice looking pair!

Mine did okay with other fish in a 135 until the male passed 8".They are 8"f & 12" male now and they are in a 75.No way dithers would make with mine.If You do try some I would go with the convicts.I feed mine pellets, sticks and frozen krill, mostly.

Good luck with the breeding!Mine have been breeding for a 1 1/2 yrs now.

Just curious, have you gotten addicted to their personalities yet or do you need a little more time? ;)

The male is 10 1/2" and I didnt get a chance to measure the female but I guess around 8.

I love there personalities...another thing i like different from my africans...they are slow and mellow. My africans are zipping all over non stop.

The cool part is those pics are the view from my desk at work...im not going to get much done lol

nicest female I have seen !!!

I originally bought the pair from Dan Woodland who had imported them from Ecuador. They were the second pair I got from him. The airline killed the first pair by not honoring the CMR and dumping them on the ground busting the bags leaving very little water in November. They arrived alive, but they were already dying. That first female was 100 times better than this one, so imagine that if you can.

The pair produced many fry for Dan and subsequently for myself. I hated to part with them because the male (all the males Dan had from that group of 14) display heavy barring and intense lime green coloration unlike most males when they are spawning.

Great fish and though the male is rough with the female at times they have never needed dither fish. The last time they spawned a few weeks ago they still had a cloud of about 400 1/4" fry in the tank with them. It was wild to see both swarms of fry. The last spawn was probably well over 700 fry.

Mine go bat sh#t over red wigglers but don't pay much attention to convicts and cutteri feeders I throw in. They like freeze dried krill too.

another shot of the male...color isnt totaly correct but it came out cool i think
