Everything's illegal in Maine they even ban Burmese pythons because they think they'll escape and live in the wild (really?!!!) speaking of stupid laws they now banned wearing baggy shorts in Tempe ,Arizona
I agree they laws are a bit over the top here. I understand wanting to preserve native species, but some of the banned species are a bit over the top.
And what is the reason cited for the koi ban in Maine (which is a surprise to me too)? Koi herpes virus that had wiped out some trout and salmon stocks once or twice in the last 20 years?
I think they are worried they will become established and cause harm to native species.

It's unfortunate Maine is so strict. There is a much greater concern with the spread of non-native bass and pike here.
