Krobia xinguensis

A little update - they spawned 4-5 times since but I only saved the first batch. They are almost 1" and eating well on flakes :)

Such cuties. My guianensis are way behind yours on growth but I think they hatched around the same time? I need to step up the water changes. The parents stayed with them for five weeks and never got aggressive with each other or the fry. I finally had to remove them because the fry were starting to eat their parents' fins.
 
I moved a couple of pairs of mine to a 180g SA community - lots of geos, acaras, etc.

They had free swimming fry in all of that chaos but don't think any made it.

I have another pair in their own tank...maybe it's time to add a heater and breed them :)

Very cool. Great job with these rare fish. Out of curiosity, shouldn't this fish belong to the genus Aequidens? I have never heard of genus "Krobia" . Just wondering

You should! It's a lot of fun. They can be very good parents when they decide to be :)

Thanks. I think in Krobia the lateral band goes up and ends in the area where doral fin ends.
