If you order a L-27 Xingu the only real risk is if the seller is a thief they'll send you a good old L-190 or L-191 or l-330/27a

No vendor is going to lose money by sending you any of the other Brazilian 27's unless you get really lucky

the pectoral and pelvis im not buying. Hey Jackson, how much will a 3''- 5'' xingu i want cost from the lowest to highest that you seen.

You're gonna hate me but Xingus can have spots on their fins.
Here's matubula panaque thread check his pics out there's I think 10 different Xingus plus a tocatins and tapajos
http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showpost.php?p=106772

What you want to check when buying is their teeth that's the best way to tell what it is.
I've posted the link twice in this thread already that will show you xingu mouths and talks about the differences of each one. Matt dud a wicked job it's worth reading

Best price $250 for 8"-10"TL or $80 for 3"-4"TL but I'm in Ontario

Unungy on aquabid has a good deal
His fish are always top notch and he promised to work on his communication

Ok. thanks for the infos. I need a shot of patron to get me through this how to identify type of xingus 101 class.

Thanks for the shout outs, Jay. It's really cool to see me getting referenced. I'd like to tidy up what I said in plecoclub posts since now I've actually seen some big Xingu and Araguaia, and that it's not really that relevant since ID'ing adults is fairly easy, it's the little ones that are the trouble.

It's quite easy to talk at length about the minutiae of the differences between the Brazilian Panaque (L027's) but pictures are more apt at it. I used to prescribe to the idea that were 4 different river varieties (Xingu, Tapajos, Tocantins, Araguaia), but now I think that there are more varieties within those different rivers (especially the Tapajos). And it would be best to consider that certain ones be called a 'river type', meaning, they probably come from within that river system.

And since aquabid has been mentioned, these are my thoughts on what they are for any potential buyers:

There was Tocantins type listed as 'gold line' (aka Araguaia) but has gone.

Listed as a Platinum (aka Xingu) but is a Araguaia.

Listed as Xingu but is Tapajos type.

Listed as Xingu and is Xingu.

Listed as Tapajos and is Tapajos type (maybe Jamanxin)

Hey Matt

Good to see you made it over :)

I said it on AF before I'll say it again tapajos is a confusing one lol prices are all over and so far I can count at least 4 different looks/variations of them that I've seen in pics.
No adults tapajos coming in here actually not even young tapajos.
Only Tocantins, araguaia and Xingus in different sizes.
Nothing to get excited over not even close to top notch fish very ordinary and over priced.

I bought the goldline that was listed, he said the collection point was araguaia but wherever it was they are nice looking gold royals.

So Matt, you think its probably tocantins?

Have you ever encounter a royal for Teles Pires?
