Hiya,

Im just wndering if anyone has any suggections that anyne can offer to feeding my 15 inch pleco. I have tried feeding him courgette, cucumber, pepper prawn but he doesnt touch any of it!! I feed them algae wafers currently but am aware that he needs a varied diet. Even the algae wafers I dont feel are the best for him cause they a bit small for his mought so I started crushing them up and pasting it onto rcks for him to suck it off!! He loves this :) any suggestions would be gratefully aprreciated!!

What type of Pleco? my large plecos eat mussels, prawns, yams, zukes, hikari massivore, HBH XXL cichlid sinkers, silversides, algae wafers( HBH, NLS)... Let's see pics of your big boy.....

I will load a few tonight, i have three common plecos, they range from about 8 inches to fifteen my favourite are my smaller ones i have a blue phantom and a butterfly one they are just so cute!! one of the smaller common plecos will even suck on a mouse if he gets the chance to get it before the redtail chomps it that plec will eat anything its weird I cant get the largest one to try anything different!!

wot about covering the cucumber in the wafer or stuffing a prawn with it my common eats just about antthing as well on the bottom of the tank every now and the i stik a few pellets in the cucmber and he just munches away

ya those are really good ideas but prawns dont last two minutes in my tank cause of the red tail he cant get enough!! he wnt touch cucumber at all hes just so picky!! :( I just feel bad leaving him eat just algae wafers :( But he just wont touch anything else :( :(

ps I will post picks tonight im just after cleaning the tank and everyne has retreated into the safety of the driftwood!! They get grumpy after I change the water lol :)

Awesome pleco. Maybe try loading the zuchinni with the algae wafers to get it to come to the zuchinni. It can take several attempts before the pleco realizes it's food so I would stick with only one type of veggie(zuchinni is generally your best bet IMO) until you get it to eat it. Once it gets a taste for the zuchinni with the algae wafers, try loading with some other pellets. Leaving the zuchinni in overnite will also increase the chances of the pleco stumbling across it and realizing it's food. Also, I would'nt put any algae wafers in the tank for a day or two before you try the zuchinni loaded with wafers. Another idea would be to crush up other pellets to add to the algae wafer paste you make. Whatever you do, good luck with it. Ya got a cool beast there.
