  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thats mearly a fry compared to some of the monsters lurking in the depths of the ditches in Florida. We are gonna havean amzing time in April catching them. I was speaking with my friend down there and some monsters are pushing over 3 feet! Theyve pretty much cleared out every other species in the ditches! can't wait

Lost him today. He did not make it form trying to eat the Xiloa. He was just over 20" and was 6lbs 4oz. I got him 2 year ago at 13-14" . He was a great fish, a true pred. When I saw him on the bottom of the pond I felt sick. Some days the hobby sucks

Terrible news. Do you have photos?

Spencer's Dovii. Well over 20". Not my best in terms of lighting. Too dark overall. I seem to remember Spencer's male as having a larger hump. I'll have to check my older pics. ;)

What does well over 20" mean? I would have sworn Mel's was well over 20" as well just from eyeballing him, but when you actually get it in perspective they can be smaller.

Haha. Don't speak too soon. Wouldn't want you to have to eat those words after April. 36" is 100% BS. ;) As I said, eyeballing you think they're giant, actually measure one and get back to me.

That would be a new world record. The old record is 28" and has held up for more then 10 years now.

Not to mention COLD waters down there, I doubt dovis in the ditches are too cold tolerant.

I've seen some of those world records that are pretty unimpressive. There are lots of pictures on the internet of fish that appear to be at least 28". Even if they aren't they surely are close to the "world record" --- lots of fish pushing the limits. Doesn't seem to make sense.

Also, several collectors and ichtyologists quote 30" and larger.

Most of the web pictures have been posted already, but check out the beasts in here (another forum member posted this the other day):

I agree, those records are only based on people bothering to submit their catches and second, they need to qualify based on the standards set in place. Would a Dovii from Florida even qualify for "world record" status? LOL

I have sent a message to see if I can get some pics of them in the water. . . I won't say that there are three footers, but, rumor has it that 30" is there :naughty:

A guy in Japan just tied the world record LMB, I doubt those Florida bass in Japan were native.
