I've seen some of those world records that are pretty unimpressive. There are lots of pictures on the internet of fish that appear to be at least 28". Even if they aren't they surely are close to the "world record" --- lots of fish pushing the limits. Doesn't seem to make sense.

Also, several collectors and ichtyologists quote 30" and larger.

Most of the web pictures have been posted already, but check out the beasts in here (another forum member posted this the other day):

thats mearly a fry compared to some of the monsters lurking in the depths of the ditches in Florida. We are gonna havean amzing time in April catching them. I was speaking with my friend down there and some monsters are pushing over 3 feet! Theyve pretty much cleared out every other species in the ditches! can't wait

So where are those 36" dovii?

:D I guess we will see next week! I am not saying that there is a 36" in there, but, I will venture to say we will find something around the 30" mark. . . SOOOOO EXCITED! I already have my fishing rod and camera packed, I think we are going to have a video camera on hand as well. I will certainly update when the time comes. . .

Should be easy to determine the size of that fish if you know what size tank it's in. If you know the name of the LFS, you could get the dimensions of the tank.

Looks like a big-un though!

That fish is in the 20" range. His tail is around 6" tall and his body is around 11-12' tall. My big male's tail was 7" tall and he was 11" thick when he died and he was just over 20".
