wow sal thats a great looking nic! thanks for sharing!

and CJ you should have some patience with them, if the male hasnt killed her or roughed her up too much then it might be fine, whenever I get a new fish all the old fish give the new guy a hard time for a day until he fits in, thats the way cichlids are unfortunately.

Good looking female Nic sal!

Strato, yeah I completely agree. I'll definitely just have to be patient and see how things work out. If things don't calm down in a week or so, I'll start reconsidering my options. Thanks for your input.

Here's another pic of my male... It's a bit dark and he wouldn't sit still enough for me to get him in focus!

Here's my little female, she hasn't really grown much since hitting 4ish inches, but she is making up for that with some nice blue coloration.

Great looking female Aqualoon, she definitely has great coloration! My female is around the same size and has seemed to slow down a bit growth wise as well. Has yours began to lay infertile eggs yet?

Ah, just curious as my female has laid a couple batches within the past couple of months...

When my old female laid eggs I was quite suprised to find they are one of the only american cichlids with non adhesive eggs. they just dig a little pit and lay the eggs on the glass beneath usually. although my female did pair with a infertile blood parrot.

Yep, you would be correct Strato, their eggs are non-adhesive. My female dug a small pit under 2 rocks and has used that spot both times she has laid eggs.
